Ms. Venema serves as Sustainability Manager for the City of Sacramento’s Department of Public Works. She led preparation of the City’s first EV Strategy and is supporting the advance of numerous EV initiatives, including Electrify America’s Green City, or “Sac-to-Zero,” initiatives in Sacramento. These efforts include the launch of one of the nation’s largest electric car share programs. Her responsibilities include a range of policy and implementation efforts, from the City’s climate action plans to renewable energy procurements. Previously, Ms. Venema worked as a consultant providing climate-related services to public agencies. She led preparation of diverse environmental programs and plans for cities and counties across the state. Her portfolio includes over 20 climate action plans, greenhouse gas reduction plans, and energy action
plans. Her experience includes renewable energy streamlining, general plans, and grant administration. In addition to technical experience, Ms. Venema has a background in public engagement and facilitation, working with both community stakeholders and elected officials.
